Luleå has been depicted in many works of art by famous artists who have fallen in love with the distinctive, beautiful natural environment that surrounds the city center. This has inspired a plethora of famous artists who have put Luleå on the map through their work.
Luleå is home to, amongst many others, internationally renowned artist Karin Mamma Andersson, who has become world famous through her expressionist landscape paintings.

At Norrbottens Museum (the Norrbotten County Museum), centrally located in Hermelinsparken, Luleå, you will find historical, Sami and contemporary art, unique to our region and city. Here you will also find a nice gift shop and a charming café. The Kulturens Hus Art Gallery, right next to the Tourist Information Office, always hosts exciting exhibitions worth a visit, often featuring works from Norrbotten and Luleå.

Lindberg Konst och Ramar in Luleå sells art by local artists and hosts quality art exhibitions. In Gammelstad Church Town you will also find Shop in Lapland, selling artwork and cultural artifacts specific to Norrbotten County and Swedish Lapland. Examples of things you can find there are traditional Sami clothes, classical crafts from the Bothnian region and jewellery. In central Luleå you will find the shop, Lapland Heartwork, offering a truly original selection of local art and gifts to take home as a reminder of Luleå and Norrbotten. The Sami shop, Biergo, covers all aspects of Sami culture and in addition to cultural history and Sami experiences, they also sell art in their shop in central Luleå.
