Compare a painting with an old photograph and a new photograph, and see how the city of Luleå has changed since the middle of the 19th century. From the many wooden huts before the city fire to today's "modern" cityscape. The motifs also show how industrialization has affected the inner city's buildings, and the once so important pre-industrial industries that existed in the middle of the city - shipping, timber exports, LKAB - have almost completely disappeared from the cityscape.
The works of art in "Luleåbilder" (Luleå pictures) come from Norrbotten's museum's art collection. The old photographs come from the museum's and Luleå municipality's city archives' image collections. New photographs have been supplemented to the old motifs, photographed by Simon Eliasson in 2021.
