Altappen

Altappen, about 1 kilometer by boat from the fishing village of Lövskär, is an exciting island with remnants from the industrial era around the turn of the last century. This was once the site of a large sawmill and the world´s northernmost rolling mill. In July 1908, the community was devastated by fire and the island had to be evacuated with very short notice. The mills were never rebuilt, and the only building left standing was Byggmästarvillan.

There are several fireplaces along the island for everyone to use.
