Christmas fair in Hägnan, Gammelstad

Guided tour in English at outdoor museum Hägnan! During the Christmas tour you will learn more about our old Swedish Christmas traditions and how the celebrations looked like here in the north in the late 1800s and 1920s.

You will learn why it was important to have Christmas crosses in the windows, why important Christmas preparations were carried out in the barn and what a Christmas present really was. In addition, we will also talk about how our modern Santa Claus is connected to the Christmas goat, the grumpy yard elf and the generous Bishop Nicholas.

(Santa Claus is busy during this time of year, so you will not meet him during this tour.
