Children's Sunday. Theme: National minorities

Spring's last Children's Sunday offers a day filled with stories, music and creative creation with a focus on Sweden's national minorities. A day for the whole family to learn, experience and create together.

Experience the magical performance Biejvve bájttá and learn about Sami culture and jojk in Lilla Salen. In the library, we celebrate national minority languages with a language bath in Meänkieli and storytimes in several languages. In the Art Gallery, we are inspired by Anders Sunna's art and create our own symbols, maps and fantasy landscapes.

The library: Language bath and story time
We celebrate Sweden's national minority language with a Language Bath at meänkieli! The children's department is filled with fun activities, this time focusing on the administrative language Meänkieli. In the Experience Room there will be storytimes in Northern Sami at 1 pm and in Meänkieli at 2 pm. There will also be singing time in Finnish at 1.30pm. No pre-registration required, free admission.

Konsthallen: Creating with Sami symbols
In Konsthallen we are showing the exhibition by Anders Sunna, a Swedish Sami artist. The exhibition is about Sami culture, history and politics, but also the relationship between man and nature. We make prints on paper and textile based on various Sami symbols but also experimenting with our own symbols. We also create our own maps and landscapes for people, animals or fantasy worlds where we ourselves decide where the borders are and who lives there. No pre-registration required, free admission.
