LKMF - Gamla mästare i nytt sällskap
'Gamla mästare i nytt sällskap' (Old Masters in a New Company) is a nicely composed program with music by the old masters Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven in the company of the contemporary American composer Lowell Liebermann. In his sonata for flute and guitar, Liebermann shows a brilliant ability to create captivating melodies as well as his sense of bold harmony. We also get to take part in folk music-inspired tones from Argentina and Indian melodies by Ravi Shankar. Duo Emtell Johansson offers this and much more in their fine and varied concert program with both classical and folk music-inspired tones.
Anders Emtell (b. 1978) is a native of Sandviken. At the age of 8 he took his first guitar lessons at the municipal cultural school. After high school, the path went via Falu Music Conservatory to five years at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, from where he graduated with his Master in Music in 2007. During his studies, Anders has been taught by Leif-Åke Wiklund, Mats Bergström, Peter Berlind Carlson, Per Skareng, Georg Gulyás, Fabio Zanon, Tilmann Hoppstock and others. He has since supplemented his musical education with a cantor's degree at Sköndal University (2014). Anders Emtell performs as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals, with chamber music associations and in churches. In the fall of 2019, he participated in the Uppsala International Guitar Festival as a soloist in Castelnuovo-Tedesco's “Romancero Gitano” together with the choir Canorus. In 2007, Anders was a finalist in Ung och Lovande.
Madeleine Johansson (b. 1984) works as a freelance flutist. She was educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm from 2002 to 2009, where she completed her bachelor's degree, master's degree with an orchestral profile and a Post Graduate soloist diploma after seven years of full-time studies there. She has also received training in Germany and Spain. Madeleine Johansson has played in most professional symphony orchestras in Sweden and in 2017 she participated in the 'Nordic Tour 2017' with the Stockholm Concert Orchestra and Andrea Bocelli. She has also played with artists such as Henrik Dorsin and Carola, among others.
