Tingsek & NBB
A long-awaited reunion when Norrbotten Big Band and Tingsek meet in a new exciting project.
The new album Home begins with the rhythmic sound of a pigeon singing. A Skåne pigeon. The album was recorded in the area of Höllviken, the main track is called Family, and in the music video for the song, Tingsek, Magnus Tingsek, is sitting in his living room. Outside the windows, the wind blows in the pine trees against a gray sky. Under the gold-glittering keyboard, Tingsek's black socks are sometimes visible, moving in time over sheepskin coats as he sings about his love for his family.
- I have found home in terms of location, but also inside. I have found the place I want to be, says Tingsek in an interview about the album.
After a widely acclaimed participation in Norrbotten Big Band's annual concert Soulful December in December 2019, a continued collaboration between the critically acclaimed artist Tingsek and the big band has been long-awaited. Tingsek has brought with him into this project music that has been arranged for the band by, among others, Norrbotten Big Band's artistic director Joakim Milder.
- We are very much looking forward to the collaboration with Tingsek, also because it is an obvious part of Norrbotten Big Band's idea of the organic music scene - where creative, creative encounters are allowed to grow, continue and deepen, says Joakim.
Since his debut at the age of 27, Tingsek has released seven albums. Although the albums differ, the music is always sharp and tentative, while at the same time it comes explosively and twists things in the solar plexus. Tingsek has made acclaimed collaborations with artists such as Ane Brun, Allen Stone, Emily King and Timbuktu and his music contains layers of gospel and soul as well as jazz and Swedish poetry. The project with Norrbotten Big Band involves an exciting meeting when Tingsek's intimate personal expression intersects with the force field of the big band.
