Yukigassen

This year, Yukigassen will be held in conjunction with Luleå On Ice at Södra Hamn and the ice rink. The competition starts Friday evening and ends on Saturday, February 22.

It's finally time for the traditional snowball competition SM i Yukigassen, with students, companies and representatives from the university management competing.

Yukigassen is a snowball tournament that crowns the Swedish champions in snowball fights, a very prestigious title. The snowball fight competition originated in Japan. The Swedish Yukigassen Association was formed in January 2009 by students at Luleå University of Technology. Today, the maskinsektionens activity committee is responsible for the competitions.

The game involves two teams competing to capture the opposing team's flag without being hit by snowballs. If a player is hit, they are out of the game.
