The ice roads

When the ice along the coast outside Luleå is thick enough in the winter, about 30 km ice roads are preperd to a few islands in the archipelago. Make a day trip with your own car and visit the islands Hindersön, Storbrändön, Sandön and Junkön. It is a special feeling traveling by car on the vast ice roads, knowing you're driving on frozen sea.

Stop for a lunch break on one of these islands, replace your car transport to ski or fatbike for further trip out to the outermost islands in the archipelago. On Brändöskär, Kluntarna and Småskär in the outer archipelago, it is possible to stay the night in bookable cabins.
