At Teknikens Hus, you can take part in a range of workshops. Design your own space rocket, experiment with chemical rockets and explore the moon with Blue-Bots.

It is time for winter break basketball!
The sports break basketball is held in Luleå Energi Arena, in the a-hall and the b-hall. The coaches are players and coaches from our elite teams, BC Luleå and Luleå Basket.

Winter holiday in Gammelstad

MARCH 3-5

The winter holiday week at Hägnan offers skiing, baking, crafting, firepleces and a lot of outdoor play. At the Visitor Centre, you can visit the exhibition about Gammelstad church town, where there is also a children’s corner. You can also enjoy exciting children’s walks using the Visit Gammelstad app.

The ice track

Welcome to Luleå's ice arena! The ice track in central Luleå is perfect for walking and ice skating. There are even kicksleds to borrow for free at parking lots. Standard ice skates can be borrowed for free at Fritidsbanken if you do not have own. Long distance ice skates in adult sizes can be rented at Äventyrsbutiken.

Enjoy a trip to the cozy island Gråsjälören. Here, there are barbeque spots to use and if the flag is hoisted the Lion's charity organization open the café. What would you say about a really tasty Swedish waffle during a perfect spring winter day?

Borrow sports equipment for free!

Fritidsbanken is the place to go to if you want to borrow sports equipment for free. Fritidsbanken is located at Porsön. During winter 2026, we will also periodically offer winter sports equipment for loan in central Luleå.

Borrow winter fun in the middle of town! It is possible to borrow ice skates for free at Returpunkt centrum during the winter break.

Go skiing

There are many opportunities for both downhill and cross-country skiing in Luleå. If you have your own downhill skiing equipment, there is Ormberget near central Luleå and nice Rånekölen. There is a ski rental at Måttsundsbacken about 20 minutes from central Luleå.
